As I get older two things remain the same: my morning routine, and my nightly routine. Importantly, my body has its own rhythm and operates like clockwork; it needs eight (8) hours of sleep to be fully functional, and I do not disturb its rhythm by using an alarm clock. So if I go to bed at 9pm, I will automatically wake at 5am, and if I go at 10pm, I will wake at 6am and so on. So, those are the two most common times I go to bed, and if the inevitable happens and I have to go later, you know what time I’ll be waking up! And while I’m known for being predictably unpredictable – taking off on impromptu adventurous trips – I have a structured beginning and ending to my day regardless of where I am. Here is a synopsis of My Morning Routine.
First of all, I love to watch the sun rise and set. So, most mornings I’ll rise at 5am. I connect with my divine source through prayer, then remain quiet in meditation and listen to gain clarity and guidance for my day. I then do my stretches, my “mini Yoga” I like to call it, then head to the kitchen. Yep! That’s where the sun currently rise for me in the mornings.
Next, I make a cup of one of my favorite teas, and position myself for the perfect view of the beautiful sunrise. And at this moment, the feeling is magical! I’m in high vibration and it would be near impossible to snap me out of this realm. It’s still, calming, and quiet with the only sounds now being the heartwarming chirping of the birds singing away on my window sill, and the only view being the sunlight as it slowly rises over the horizon and bless me with its presence. I feel so blessed and I’m eternally grateful to be able to watch the magnificent sun rise – from my window.
I now document in my journal any thoughts I have, as well as the result from my prayer and meditation, then check and respond to important emails.
And now it’s time for another favorite portion of my day. I’m off to play tennis! Or swim! (In the winter I’ll go swimming instead. So you know who is ecstatic when spring comes around again 😊.
Then it’s time for breakfast. I never skip breakfast! It’s the most important meal of my day. I’m having my high-fiber breakfast which most often is Kashi’s Go Lean Honey Almond Flax Crunch with Organic Valley Grassmilk and a bowl of fruits – banana, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwis and other fruits depending on what is available in my current location.
And finally, I’ll get to my Priority List which is separated in three (3) parts: Must Do (Urgent & Important), Will Do (Not Urgent but Important), May Do (Urgent but Not Important).
And I get all this done way before noon, without rushing or scurrying.
Now, I’m a business woman which means occasionally having to re-organize or omit one or two things on my list, but the things that will not get reorganized or omitted are my full eight (8) hours of sleep, my morning and evening prayer and meditation, and my meals.
So, there you have it! My Morning Routine. What’s your morning routine? Do you have one? Do tell in the comment section below!
